Commercial Windows – What’s the Difference in Residential

Ever wonder the difference between a commercial windows and residential?  Maybe you didn’t even know there was a difference.  If you’re in the market for buying some of these windows, this article was meant for you.  Below we list out the differences between both and explain the uses for each.

First off, let’s start with the most important question everyone asks: which one is cheaper?  Typically the residential window is a bit less expensive on the pocket book.  This is because these windows don’t require as much material to make and are simpler to install.  Commercial windows, on the other hand, are built with much more heavy-duty material that is durable and heavy-weight with advanced window technology.  Because of those factors, these windows tend to run a little higher.

In addition to the difference in cost, there is a big divide in efficiency as well.  Residential windows tend to maintain their energy because they aren’t as big and bulky.  Commercial windows are typically installed into bigger sized buildings which makes it harder to maintain efficiency with the larger square footage.  These commercial buildings generate more internal heat because of the large number of people occupying the building so it’s extremely important to have commercial windows built with durability and advanced window technology that includes things such as special glazing to help.
